Barr Construction, one of the UK’s leading construction companies, has secured a series of contracts totalling in excess of £13 million for three new Tesco stores in Scotland.
AOC Archaeology, which excavated the land for Barr Construction, uncovered a rich bounty of Roman archaeological relics at the new Tesco site in Falkirk.
Barr Construction is starting work on a new Tesco superstore and four smaller retail units at Roker Retail Park, Sunderland.
Contractors Barr Construction will work on constructing the 8,378 square metres Tesco Extra, which is set to open in spring 2013.
Barr Limited started construction of the new 17,980 capacity St Helens Rugby League Club stadium and a new 140,000 sq. ft. supermarket shell for Tesco Stores Ltd. Works got underway on 23rd August 2010. The Tesco unit is due for completion in July 2011, and the stadium in October 2011, with the first match due to be played in February 2012.
Tesco Slough opened in August 2005 and remains the largest project we have completed for this Client.

Barr has an ongoing partnering agreement with Tesco Stores for projects throughout the UK. These include new build stores, refurbishment schemes and extensions.
Barr have now completed over 80 projects for the retailer with an aggregate value in excess of £400m
