Newark Primary School is located on a hillside location in Port Glasgow. The project is part of Inverclyde Council’s Prudential Schools programme. Newark Primary replaces Highholm Primary, Slaemuir Primary, Clune Park and Barmoss Nursery and was built on the Boglestone Primary School site. The school provides learning facilities for 594 pupils with a nursery provision.

The project was designed to provide a stimulating education environment whilst creating a stunning architectural landmark and was officially opened by the Prime Minister Gordon Brown on 28th August 2008.

The School has a natural ventilation strategy and also utilises renewable energy technology, the most evident symbol being the installation of a wind turbine on campus.
