Barr Construction is pleased to announce the award of a new construction project for Marine Scotland.
Barr is undertaking the construction of a new steel framed building with office accommodation, laboratories, aquaria containment areas on the ground and first floor levels and walkways linking into the existing buildings. In addition to forming the basic building frame and envelope the project involves the installation and commissioning of specialist plant.
The works comprise of the following:-
Erection of structural steel frame and associated foundations with roof cladding comprising of a single ply membrane system. The external wall are a combination of composite wall panels, SFS framing system with timber cladding and Gabion baskets and structural block work.
External we are providing drainage, hard and soft landscaping, formation of a new access and the diversion and upgrade of the existing services.
Construction of Veterinary standard laboratories.
Construction of clean rooms and laboratories to DEFRA containment level 3 standards.
Construction of new office accommodation.
Specialist ozone treatment plant.
Provision of heat treatment plant for the decontamination of waste water
Full M&E, plant and ancillary support services.
Upgrading existing electrical sub-station and sea water extraction plant.
As a means of providing certification throughout the project, it will be assessed under the BRE’s BREEAM scheme with a view of attaining an Excellent rating.
