This project provides a Regional Sports Facilities for indoor football, hockey, athletics, and a large multi-purpose games halls for badminton, judo, basketball, squash, volleyball, dance and movement, fitness and netball, The new facility is located on the site of the existing Chris Anderson Stadium which is owned by Aberdeen City Council. The facility is intended to be used by both the local communities and elite sportsmen and women from across the North-East of Scotland. The design is such that it can caters for all age groups from schoolchildren through to elderly people.
The project comprises of the following facilities:
1. An indoor synthetic grass pitch.
2. Two Gymnasiums for multi-purpose general use.
3. Two glass-backed and two solid-backed squash courts.
4. Fitness Suite and Performance Gym comprising of a free weights area, stacked weights, cardiovascular and warm up areas.
5. First Aid Room, Crèche, etc.
6. Internal and external viewing areas.
7. Foyer and reception area, equipment hire store and retailing space.
8. Café/Bar, kitchen and servery.
9. Office areas.
10. Changing Rooms.
11. External there are car and coach parks, disabled parking facilities and a hockey pitch.
12. All associated plant rooms etc.
