This £7m project provides 60 residential care beds in Central Edinburgh. The aim was to create an innovative and sustainable care environment designed on a domestic scale around the needs of elderly people. The design moves away from the often institutional feel of such buildings and looks beyond the minimum care standards to create spaces that stimulate and engage all those who live and work there. The whole care home environment was required to be barrier free & dementia friendly. Additionally it waqs a requirement that the care home should cater for high dependency needs and minority ethnic groups.
