Key Features: Tensile roof / canopy structure to the north stand,

The project consisted of the construction of 2 no. sports running track public viewing stands. The stands comprises of 4500 seats externally but none indoors, although the indoor facilities are overlooked by the first floor spectator concourse.

The south stand is a 3 storey free standing building. The athletics facilities indoors are all on the ground floor and are primarily used for warm up and training purposes with the actual competition facilities in the main outdoor arena. On the ground floor indoors there is a 100m track with a long jump pit, throwing nets, and pole vault areas as well as a fitness and conditioning suite and climbing ropes. There are also 7 athlete changing areas with physiotherapy and first aid facilities. Also contained in this building is the main reception area and ticket sales office.

On the first floor is the main spectator concourse with toilets, refreshment kiosks and access to the seating deck. The top floor comprises of a large club deck function area with associated bars, kitchens and toilets.

There is an admin block built into one end of the stand which contains main offices and TV studio accommodation.

North stand is a single storey free standing building incorporating public seating, food sale kiosks, toilet facilities and associated kiosks.

Outdoors, there are a couple of rugby pitches, a 400m IAAF championship standard running track and full associated athletics facilities including, 4 pole vault beds, 2 shot putt rings, hammer and discus throwing cage, 2 long jump pits and 2 javelin runways.

External works on this project included the upgrade of the existing outside running track, the construction of additional car parking, roads and paths together with the associated soft landscaping, drainage and additional lighting provision.
