Barr Construction is an associate member of the Considerate Constructors Scheme which operates voluntary site and company Codes of Considerate Practice, with which participating construction companies and sites register.  The scheme is a non profit making, independent organisation founded by the industry to improve its image.
The Whitelee Visitor Centre site picked up a 2010 Bronze National Site Award at the annual awards ceremony held in The Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh on Thursday 22 April 2010.

The awards were presented by Michael Levack, Chief Executive, Scottish Building Federation.

The Whitelee Visitor Centre is located on Eaglesham Moor, East Renfrewshire, and is the first of its kind in Scotland. It is the focal point for the recreation facilities at the Whitelee Windfarm Project and plays a key role in the new Whitelee Access project. As part of the Windfarm project construction 82km of roads and tracks have been built, which will be open to the public for a range of activities including walking, cycling and horse riding with the Visitor Centre providing the hub for these activities as well as being a renewable energy learning centre in its own right.

Robert Gamble, Project Manager, accepted the award on behalf of Barr Construction and his site team at Whitelee Visitor Centre, Nr Eaglesham.

Paul Griffen, Construction Director, said “All our Project Managers work hard to ensure their sites are run to high standards and it’s good to see Robert’s work recognised in this way.  I’m sure collecting this award was a proud moment for him as well as for Barr Construction.”
