New Blackhall Supported Accommodation Project Announced

Barr Construction is pleased to announce the award of a new construction project for Renfrewshire Council Social Work Dept.

Barr will undertake the Design and Construction of a new residential supported accommodation facility in Blackhall, Paisley.

The accommodation is arranged as 2 joined single-storey four-bedroom houses, each with associated living, dining, kitchen and recreational facilities. In addition, there are large garden areas incorporating hard and soft landscaping which provides privacy for the residents, on all sides.

The building is of a domestic scale and utilises a vernacular palette of external materials such as slate, stone, render etc., to allow it to sit comfortably within its surroundings.

Work will continue with the further development of the initial design proposals to ensure the final design fulfils the requirements of Renfrewshire Council. In addition, the inclusion of modern design and technology features has highlighted the Council’s intention to seek the highest possible standards in relation to sustainable development and energy efficiency thereby reducing the carbon footprint of this new development.  As a means of providing certification the project will be assessed under the BRE’s BREEAM scheme with a view of attaining an Excellent rating.  This project will be the council’s first BREEAM Excellent rated building.

Paul Griffen, Barrs’ Construction Director said
