Location: New Cumnock, Ayrshire

Project Start: September 2011

New Cumnock Primary School

New Cumnock Primary School…

East Ayrshire Council has appointed Barr Construction to carry out the redevelopment work at New Cumnock Primary School. Works commence in September 2011 and will continue until Early 2013. The upgraded school will provide state of the art teaching facilities for primary and nursery aged children to New Cumnock and the surrounding areas.

Barr will create a new gym, renovate all walls, floors, ceilings, doors and windows, and will install solar panels. The layout of the building will be altered and an evacuation lift will be constructed.

The new-build, single storey nursery, which will link to the school via a covered walkway, will ensure the village benefits from a fully modern facility for its youngest learners. Provision will meanwhile continue at the former Cairnhill campus, until the move to the new premises.

Externally, there will be a new parking/drop off area and upgraded playground area, while flood defence walls will be constructed to protect the nursery and school.

Work will be carried out in a manner intended to keep the impact on the local community to a minimum.
